In-Person Traditional Worship Resumes October 11th

by Jeff Patterson on October 05, 2020

I have some exciting news to share with you. While we have enjoyed our outdoor Sunday services, the time has come to move inside. We will resume indoor worship on Sunday, October 11. Traditional services will occur at 8:30 am and 11:00 am in our main sanctuary.
A special "children's church" will also be available during the 11:00 service. Bring your child age 4-grade 5 to the Narthex of the Sanctuary and children's ministry volunteers will take them to the Asbury Room of a children's church experience.
As renovation continues in our Contemporary Worship Center, our contemporary worship service will resume indoors in the Dining Hall on October 25th on a temporary basis.
Great planning has been done to provide a safe worship experience in our main sanctuary. Thanks to the historic generosity and vision of our congregation, we are blessed with a large sanctuary that will allow us to worship safely distanced from each other. Many new protocols and precautions have been put into place. For purposes of contact-tracing, please register in advance or upon arrival. An out-door children’s activity will occur under a tent, on the front lawn, in front of the sanctuary.
All are encouraged to wear a mask and keep a safe distance from each other. Hymnals and pew Bibles have been removed. No offering plate will be passed. Cleaning will occur before and after each service. You will be assisted by specially trained ushers to worship in a pandemic. You are invited to come and be immersed in the beauty of holiness in our inspiring sanctuary. You will find comfort and peace for these challenging days.
Because of your generosity and our commitment to reach people for Jesus Christ, besides these two sanctuary services, we will be continuing our worship services on TV, Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube and telephone. You are encouraged to worship with your Wesley Memorial family in the way that is most comfortable for you.
It is a great gift to be part of a Christ-centered congregation that daily is changing lives and changing the world. Thanks to your faithful support, we have continued to thrive during these challenging times. We have continued to faithfully minister to a hurting world. Our influence has spread in an amazing way during the pandemic thanks to our commitment to reach people through technology. We have become a teaching church for other congregations.
You are part of a mighty move of God during our age. We are taking our ministry to a new level thanks to the supernatural ways that God has used our great faithfulness and passionate creativity.
As we look toward the end of one of the most challenging years of Wesley Memorial Church’s history, we want to end strongly and embrace the gift of 2021. On October 25, we will begin our fall stewardship campaign entitled “Rise to the Mission. . . For Such a Time as This.” Prayerfully consider how you will support our congregation’s ministries to change lives in 2021.
By following the biblical practice of making a faith pledge (Psalm 22:25, 50:14, 56:12, 61:8), you help us plan and fulfill our 2021 ministries. Together, we will move forward as the faithful people of Jesus Christ in our community. Together, we will do amazing things for our God. Together, we will continue to change High Point and the world.
With great confidence in Christ,
Pastor Jeff
