We are excited about our 2024 time with all these awesome students. It's April 1 and we have only 2 sessions left! The expectation is that your student will make all sessions and if you have an immoveable conflict or sickness just let Steven Nelson know and we will work with you. The sessions on Sunday are designed to allow families to worship together and there is time before (depending on worship service you attend) or after to schedule a meeting with your adult mentor.

Confirmation Worship Service: 11am

We tried our best in 2024 to avoid Holiday Weekends, Furniture Market and School Spring Breaks. We tried to be consistent with 1st & 3rd Sundays but February had President's Day Weekend.

We are pumped to begin our "Flight for Christ" Confirmation Journey 2023-24! The last seven years we have thoroughly enjoyed our confirmands as they have grown in their walk with Jesus and knowledge of the local church. We have most recently confirmed 22 8th and 9th grade students in 2022. Our new season of 2024 has over 25 students for the journey! We are excited for each of them and their mentors!

Please notice the red linked documents below to help with confirmation mentorship and participation. For your student's worship participation, please see these various contacts. Someone will help make sure you are on the Sunday schedule to greet/welcome, read scripture or serve communion (Communion Sundays: March 3 and April 7). We are excited to plug in your student to serve the local church! For all contemporary worship serving role opportunties, please first contact Al and Emily Henderson by email at: eahenderson@northstate.net.

Your student can serve in these worship roles at 9:45am contemporary worship or 11am traditional worship. If you would like to serve at the 11am service please contact Jeff Patterson at jpatterson@wesleymemorial.org.

Our children's ministry has a new opportunity that starts on Easter Sunday, March 31. Starting on Easter we begin offering children's church at the 11am worship. Their team loves new help! Contact Ann Marie Chilton at 704-737-9495.

Children's Church details: Ages 3 years old - 3rd grade can worship with their parents and then exit the 11AM Traditional Service after the Children's Sermon with a Wesley Memorial Kids leader who will take them to the Praise Room. Pickup is after the 11AM service.

Student Serving in 11am traditional worship is returning! We are bringing back these awesome worship roles for students since March of 2020! It officially kicks off on Easter Sunday, March 31. We had Easter covered but if you would like to serve as crucifer (1), book bearer (1), or acolyte (2) we would love to have you dress out and serve! Parents of awesome students! Here is your top 10 list to help you and your guests on this special Sunday!

1. Confirmation Sunday events are on Sunday, April 28, 2024 with 9:45 Brunch in The Asbury Room and 11am Worship in the Sanctuary. You (family, friends, mentors) are invited to join us! Please arrive no later than 9:15am.
2. At 9:15am we will walk over to the sanctuary to rehearse, know our spots and what to do for the worship service.
3. At 11am we will be baptizing, confirming, praying and laying hands on your amazing students. All mentors and parent will be invited up front at the appropriate time. Jeff Patterson will prompt you in the service.
4. Sanctuary Seating: Ushers will guide and help you to the reserved pews for families, friends, mentors and students. These will be up front most likely on the pulpit side. Students will line up and shake hands after the 11am worship service to church family attendees to say hello and then they are free to go.
5. Student Attire (recommended) is: Girls: their favorite white dress and your favorite shoes Guys: their favorite button-up, bowtie/necktie with khakis with sport coat/blazer if desired (see 2022 group picture for help on this webpage)
6. Please make sure you have turned in your Journey Participation Expectations sheet/text to Steven no later than Wed, April 24. This can simply include the dates of what you did. Steven doesn't need extra write-ups on the experience.
7. Please make sure you have met with your mentor 4 times BEFORE Sunday, April 28. Make sure to invite your adult mentor to both events on Sun, April 28. 9:45am Asbury Room brunch celebration & 11am Sanctuary worship service.
8. Steven will send out full student names week of Confirmation Sunday to double check spelling for our banner, bulletin and certificates. Steven will also check with parents about the baptism status of your student.
9. All Flight for Christ students will receive several special gifts: Life Application Bible, Confirmation Certificate and T-Shirt! We hope these will be special reminders and resources to help them grow with their walk with Jesus!
