POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for enhancing the welcoming experience at Wesley Memorial through food service and acts of hospitality.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning
- Plans menus and procures food for a variety of church events including Wednesday Dinners, a variety of special event meals and food service ministry activities.
- Coordinates and monitors food service budgets with the Manager of Building Usage and Hospitality.
Food Service
- Prepares, serves and cleans up after meals, and provides assistance to groups using Wesley Memorial facilities.
- Provides direction and guidance to a team of lay volunteers who assist with food ministry programs, helping them prepare and serve food utilizing ServSafeâ standards.
- Maintains the kitchen, food service supply and food storage areas to ServSafeâ and food service industry standards.
- Maintains and repairs kitchen equipment to ensure safety and food safety standards are met.
- Assists with hospitality at functions such as funerals, weddings and special events,
- Supports, maintains and grows Food Service Ministries.
Other
- May serve as back-up bus driver when needed.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Manager of Building Usage and Hospitality or Senior Pastor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of significant, successful experience in food service management
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and serving meals to large groups.
- Demonstrated experience managing food service workers. Experience managing volunteers is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with basic financial management of programming and events.
- Current ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain ServSafe certification.
