Spirit and Truth Weekend POSTPONED TO March

Sometimes, even the best-laid plans have to shift. Due to predicted inclement weather, we have rescheduled Spirit & Truth Weekend to March 7-9, 2025.

While the dates have changed, the opportunity remains the same—this powerful weekend will help you deepen your relationship with God and equip you to live a Spirit-filled life. Through worship, impactful teachings, and hands-on experiences, Spirit & Truth Weekend is designed to transform your faith journey.

Sometimes all it takes is a single moment in the presence of God to change the course of someone’s life. Sometimes at little bit of training and invitation into one new practice can reset the trajectory of a person’s life in Christ. Led by the Spirit and Truth ministry from Dayton, OH (and out of United Seminary), some typical topics covered in a Spirit & Truth Weekend:

-Building a Foundation of Prayer (Making prayer the starting place for all of life)

-Cooperating with the Holy Spirit (Learning to hear God’s voice)

-Everyday Evangelism (Learning to share your faith right where you live, work and play)

-Becoming a Disciple-Maker (Mobilizing every member to participate in the Great Commission)

Cost is $25 and open to any youth or adult. Sessions will be at Wesley Memorial on Friday night and Saturday morning/afternoon (breakfast and lunch provided on Saturday). To register, visit wesleymemorial.org/spiritandtruth. Questions? Rev. Clark Chilton cchilton@wesleymemorial.org.

A Jesus-Shaped Life: Lent 2025 Study

Everything that is needed to facilitate a group will be provided by the church—training, resources, and even discussion questions! Please contact Pastor Susannah at spittman@wesleymemorial.org by Tuesday, January 21 if you’re interested in serving or for more information.

The Walk to Emmaus

The Walk to Emmaus is a three-day retreat held twice a year by the Piedmont Emmaus Community. It is sponsored by the Upper Room. It runs from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon. It is an uplifting, energizing, and wonderful time away from the day to day worries that tend to drown out God. The dates for the Men’s Walk for this spring are March 13 -16 and the Women’s Walk is from March 20 - 23. The retreat looks in depth at a variety of topics related to basic Christian theology. It is a very spiritual and renewing experience but also quite fun. It does require registration through an application. 2024 Missions Update

Our Commitment to the community

The Missions team has decided to split our monthly Communion Sunday food collection between Open Door Ministries and Macedonia Family Resource Center. Both of these organizations are an integral part in fighting hunger in the High Point area. Macedonia received food donations from the postal drive in April but have already depleted their pantry as more families are requesting food. Many of these family units are becoming multigeneration because of the rising rent cost and the cost of living. Open Door Ministries provides critical services in our community for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and/or food insecurity. Wesley Memorial has been associated with this ministry for many years by providing both financial aid and volunteers. To help offset this increased demand for Food Pantry items, a collection of nonperishables is taken up each month on Communion Sunday.

Sunday, January 5, 2025 will be our next collection going to Open Door Ministries.

Sunday, February 2, 2025 will be our next collection going to Macedonia Family Resource Center.

Bins will be placed outside of all three services for your deposits. Please bring items as you're able, knowing your kindness helps our neighbors in need. Thank you for your generosity.
