Wesley Memorial Methodist has a rich history as a place for serious, committed study of God’s word. That tradition continues today. The church is home to a number of regular Bible studies held at various times through the week and of varying length. The listing below is current, and is reflective of the normal Bible Study life of the church.
Disciple Bible Study
Meetings: Wednesdays, 6:15 p.m., following Vespers.
Meeting Place: Circle View Room
Disciple Bible Study is an ecumenical curriculum designed for reading and studying the Bible. It has reached millions around the world during its half century in existence.
The approximately 30-week class leads members to a deeper understanding of the scriptures, but more importantly, builds strong Christian relationships.
Wesley has hosted Disciple off and on for several decades. This year’s study is Disciple 3: Remember Who You Are. It is a survey of the Old Testament prophets (fall semester) and the Letters of Paul (spring semester). There is a $45 fee that covers the cost of materials. Class leader is Tucker Mitchell, a lay member at Wesley with more than 30 years experience teaching Disciple and other studies.

Six-Week Mini-Disciple: God on Trial -- The Book of Job and the search for divine justice

God on Trial: The Book of Job and the search for divine justice
This five-week study will focus on the “big questions” posed by the Book of Job, and debated in literature, art, and film for two millenia. We’ll read Job (of course!), explore literature and art that delves into the Job questions, and even watch a movie as a homework assignment! Class sessions will include lively group discussions, lectures and multi-media presentations.
- No charge and no prior experience (other than the human experience) is required. The class is open to all with a curious mind, an interest in learning more about the Bible, and a desire for Christian fellowship.
The Lord of History: A Study of Isaiah

In a world that seems out of control, it is comforting to know that the Sovereign God is working his plans out in history. Isaiah is the greatest of all Old Testament prophets. He is called the “Evangelical Prophet” because he tells us so much about Jesus Christ and his coming kingdom, even though he wrote 700 years before Jesus. Isaiah teaches us to find rest in the promises of God. “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15)

The Book of Hebrews was written to a Christian community that was beginning to be pressured to choose competing paths to the way laid out for us in Jesus Christ. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Many believers want to share their faith but don't know where to start, worry they'll say the wrong thing, or assume evangelism is only for pastors or people with outgoing personalities.The good news is that Jesus didn't reserve His Great Commission for a select few. He calls all of us to be His witnesses—and He equips us for what He asks us to do.
This class isn't about memorizing a sales pitch or winning arguments. It's about growing in your love for Christ, developing a heart for people, and learning practical, biblical ways to share the hope of the gospel in everyday conversations. Together we'll explore what Scripture teaches about evangelism, overcome common fears, practice simple and natural ways to share our faith, and encourage one another to step out in obedience.Whether you've never shared your faith with anyone or simply want to grow in confidence, this class is for you. W.O.W. - Women of Wesley

This multi-generational group of 10 women has been in existence for 15 years. They welcome women of all ages to join them in a variety of studies. The size of the group varies from year to year and study to study.
This fall, we will be exploring the book titled Convergence by Jon Thompson. It dives into the transforming power of living like Jesus through spiritual gifts, disciplines, & unusual experiences. Women of all ages welcome!
